Hello DEEP Folks, Due to VERY low water conditions this past Fall, the Mill River in Hamden didn't get restocked or was restocked with MUCH less amount of trout than usual. The water level has returned to normal and restocking can now occur along the entire catch and release area for the winter catch and release season. Many fisherman from all over the State enjoy fishing there and it would be nice to resume catching more of your stocked trout! Any consideration and attention to this matter is GREATLY appreciated by MANY! Thank you for your time and effort, Wagon Man Damon
yes i agree , there is a very low water situation and that busted up dam at clarks pond doesn't do any justice . the water just flu thru there thus emptying the whole river . as for the fish that would be great to get stocked again.
Water is drained out of the ground aquifers north of the Mill in late Spring till Mid Fall for the increased water usage from Cheshire/Northern Hamden residences, also possibly for use at Qunnipiac U and for the town Golf course which I was told sucks water out of the river to keep the greens green but I'm not positive that's true cause I haven't seen with my own eyes. Water Company can answer if thats the case but low water is not an issue in the Winter/early Spring months and thats when CnR fishing is really wonderful there. By the time the water is starting to be sucked out by humans or from drought, most of the fish are gone from that river from fisherman that catch the fish or predatory birds that find the low water easy pickings. I always wanted the Mill to be strictly CnR for much of the stretch but that would kill fish from them being there over the Summer in low water that would normally feed families in the Spring. Still alot of CnR fisherman would enjoy a restocking of that river now or very early 2014. Wags
Looking forward to a nice batch of 2014 stockies to CnR soon at the Mill. Thank You for all your cooperation, I'm sure many of us give Thanks too...Wags
Folks, I will be out there very soon to check the situ out. Hopefully I'll get into some nice fish like years past! Steve the spot in the photo doesn't ring a bell, please enlighten me. If its south of Clarks Pond its off limits to fish there now. THANK YOU DEEP! Damon
