In the 2014 guidebook it reads:
Opening Day of trout season will change from the
current 3rd Saturday in April to the 2nd Saturday
in April. Opening Day remains the 3rd Saturday
(April 19) for 2014, but it is expected that in 2015,
Opening Day will be the 2nd Saturday in April.

Is this definite yet? Want to make plans with Kayley for the week she has off from school - but can't do that until I know the date has shifted.

thnx,

The changes are still in the regulatory review process- the regulations package is currently at the Attorney General’s Office for their final approval. As that comes back it will get it on the schedule for the February 2015 meeting of the legislature’s Regulations Review Committee, so it should be in place in early March.

Does that go for other proposed reg changes as well? Specifically ice fishing at Batterson this winter? Thanks in advance.

im interested in batterson as well. Not sure if the reg change intended to include icefishing or not. As far as I knew it was still going to be closed to ice fishing but open year round for shore fishing?

That would be great if they moved up the opener a week so that it coincided with the kid's spring break from school. I remember as a kid being absolutely crazed by the fact that I had a whole week off and couldn't fish. I just couldn't imagine why either the school board or the state had to be so thick and stubborn, or just plain ignorant about it.

I've got gas and I've got crabs. You wanna go out?

Just get rid of opening day all together !!! It's such a waste of resources, and those in the know can fish year round in CT anyways.

I agree Mike. No opening day and don't tell the public when and where the trout stocking will be.
