This past weekend on opening day of trout season there was no place to park a boat trailer in the lower lot that is supposedly only for boaters and fishermen. The reason is every spot was taken by people parking cars and using the state park for hikes, dog walking, etc. because the upper parking lots were closed off and the upper gates were locked.
With nice weather finally arriving the state park is going to get a lot of use. Keeping the upper gates locked and the upper field parking lots closed does nothing, all the visitors just park at the boat launch and leave no room for fishermen and boaters.
There is also a disabled fishing pier for the disabled fishermen with no one using it because there was no access with cars blocking the paved sidewalk used to access the pier. The disabled parking spots were also taken with non-tagged vehicles.
Since Encon is part of the Parks Division organization maybe you can suggest to the parks management to open the upper gates so casual users can park in the fields like they are supposed to.
Thanks in advance,

Loc: New Milford, and Anywhere Salt...
Does New Fairfield have a Parking Officer? New Milford has a police vehicle specifically for parking voilations. They patrol the whole town including Dykes Point

I doubt it Craig, New Fairfield is tiny compared to New Milford. And they probably don't want to have anything to do with the state park.
Squantz has a lot of parks police plus the encon officers often hang out there. The solution is to open the upper gates. Its not like locking them keeps anyone out of the park, they simply just park in the boat launch lot.
