We both took a vacation day and I met Jiggy in Old Saybrook.
Started off looking for stripers but after not finding them in a few spots, we decided to make a run in search of some sea bass.

Perfect seas made the ride to the grounds a breeze and there was still a chill in the air as we cruised the Sound.

We had to hunt and peck at them, but after hitting a few spots we had our 2 man limit, plus several shorts, no huge fish but lots of solid 18” ones, plus some short fluke and a few robins in the mix.

Before we left for our trip I had a request for a fresh bluefish, so on the way in we stopped in the river to see if we could fulfill the request.
We had short strikes, cigar butted plastic, hook ups that just came off etc….
This request soon became a bit of a challenge!
They were around, but it took a lot of casts before Walt sealed the deal on a perfect eater sized blue on a popper.

Mission Accomplished!! Two grown men high fiving over a bluefish…. JonH would have disowned both of us for that celebration!!

It was just a great day with Jighead, the boat ran great, the weather was perfect, the fish cooperated and the company was top notch.

Nice!

That’s Jiggy’s boat (Qunitrex) or your boat Jon?

I saw a Quintrex being towed behind a dark van today…..was that your rig? It was either Route 9 or I-95. I’ve been driving all over the place the last few days helping my daughter find a new car.

This is Jiggy’s Quintrex and he pulls it behind his Subaru with ease.
Super nice aluminum rig with a Suzuki 115 4 stroke.

My boat isn’t really ideal to be on the Sound so I don’t do it.

Nice day with some good eats.

If there are fish to catch. I'll be there to my end.

Nice report - Yep Jiggy has a awesome "crazy Aussie tough" boat for it size, every time I see it I want to steal it.
