I hit the river before work this morning, I haven’t been out in several days, sick with a summer head cold or the Rona. Humid, cloudy and scattered showers were great conditions.
The water was extremely low so I waded out to the channel edge and worked upstream. Caught 3 decent smallies for my efforts on a whopper plopper 90, plus a small schoolie striper. Top water blow ups just never get old!
I switched up to a green pumpkin ned rig on the way back and bounced it down in the current. This produced 7 rat smallies, but nothing over 12”. On the way out I took a digger on a slippery rock and smashed my knee into it, so I decided to call it before it stiffened up. I’m fine, just sore.
Looks like a cormorant or a heron got that first one a couple years ago . Amazing how they heal up .

"Politically correct" was initially coined by Leon Trotsky to refer favorably to those whose views remained in sync with the ever-shifting Bolshevik Party line. This was important, as "not PC" people risked prison or death.
Super outing except for the fall. You are using a walking staff, right? Good sized fish for a river, even one the size of the Ct. River.
Yes I always have my wading staff with me Buck. This rock was a snot covered flat top that put me down. It was only 2 feet deep so not terrible, but the knee doesn’t like me too well tonight.
Nice trip. Great to see a striper still hanging around. Catching it on a whopper plopper had to be great. Snot covered rocks stink on ice. Glad you are OK.
