Is it legal to hunt paint wildlife in CT out of season with either airsoft or paintball guns ?

This would sort of be like catch and release fishing but more "No Harm Hunting" because no animals will be hurt in the actual hunt painting so technically it not really hunting is it ?

Do I need a valid hunting license ?

Would it be legal to use bait in such a harmless hunt ?

any caliber/psi/fps restrictions or size of paintball? maybe a special color preferences I should be aware of ?

Being an Obama voting liberal I just want to enjoy the outdoors without harming anything.

and welcome to CTF cha

..........be sure to keep an eye on that Don P. Guy wink2

Wouldn't it be more fun to chase neighborhood cats around with the paint ball gun? You could offer a decoration service to the pet owners, have them choose their favorite color. I've seen some pet salons offer doggie and kitty nail painting, sort of the same thing.

How cool would tie dyed squirrels look? I can picture it now as the little critters come to the feeder in the morning. The conversations wit the wife "hey honey did you see the magenta Sciuridae that just scampered across the deck?"

I for one think the black and white skunk thing is passe, lets get some color in those stinky little beasts. Do you think it might be possible to add some perfume to the paint ball to make them a little more pleasant on the olfactory glands?

Birds might pose a little bit of a problem as I think about this in greater depth. What would be the outcome of a chickadee when faced with a paint ball arriving at a muzzle velocity of 300FPS. A little more color in the bald eagle might be nice but I think you should fit them with eye protection first so as not to inhibit their vision.

I look forward to more input on this subject. Would paintballs affect the meat when it is time to hunt these critters? Do you think unnatural colors might have impact on the mating rituals of some of these animals? Maybe some of them are on the kinky side and might like some glitter mixed in with the paint?

Awesome subject, I'm breaking out my paintball gun as we speak.

Is this really how we are going to welcome Skip's replacement to CTF ?

My guess is that it would not be a hunting violation because you are not hunting BUT I'm sure it would be some type of cruelty or wildlife harassment violation.

Mike . . . . next year if I see a deer with a big blue "splat" on it, I'll know who to call.

I am more thinking of this as a way to deal with some nuisance bears and have fun while doing it . WIN WIN

shooting skunks with perfume balls is an outstanding idea ! a little payback for all the baking soda and tomato juice baths I have given my dogs over the years.

We could color coordinate the squirrels to match the homes in their neighborhood.

no harm ..........no foul !

If each quadrant of the state had their own specific paintball color this could actually help the DEEP easily identify which wildlife migrate and which stay in their quadrant. Yo Welkum!
