I have a young fisher in my yard near my young girls play set. Yesterday he would not chase off when I tried to. He circled around, climbed a tree, and grabbed a squirrel from the crotch of it, and scurried over to the pond to eat. This morning he was back and again hanging around the play set. This time he did run off, as he didn't yet have a squirrel stashed in a tree. What are my options to get rid of him? I don't want to shoot it but don't want my 4 and 8 year old playing with it either. Can I air rifle him or crossbow him, or do I keep chasing him away. My concern is my girls. He doesn't get aggressive with me. If he has a female friend near by, this could be a different scenario. Please advise. Thanks
Behold the fisherman. Mighty are his preparations. He arises early and full of hope. He fishes all day and returns late in the evening, smelling afoul, and the truth is not in him.

From CT DEEP site "In 2005, Connecticut instituted its first modern day regulated trapping season for fishers.", which means they are no longer a protected species. However, at the moment, state regulations restrict the legal trapping of fishers to November, and a licensed trapper can take only two per season. I would suggest taking whatever means necessary short of physical harm to put the fear of man into it so it will relocate. There is no shortage of food or range in CT for fishers, maybe a garden hose hit or two will suffice. Other than that I would consult the CT DEEP for their suggestions on what means are legal to deal with the issue.

They are no joke and can be dangerous. May want to try animal control, they may help.

Thats one animal you dont ever want to corner. If I had little ones around, I would take care of that situation real quick. It sounds like it's pretty fearless.
I think I'll water board it should it come around again. I love having seen it several times in action, but again, have to keep the playground safe. I'll water him down should he show up again, and that should do it. Thanks for the input.
