I was wondering what the law is on target shooting on private property. I have permission to hunt/shoot on a 30 acre parcel in the woods with a nice pit to shoot in. Is it legal to do so??? Is there any restrictions? THANKS

as long as you have a good backstop and are the required 500ft from any neighboring buildings/roads i think your fine.

We've been shooting down our meadow all my life. No problems. Check if there are any town ordinances. That's all I can see being a problem. along with What Stevie replied

according to enconn the 500 ft rule only applies to hunting and not target practice.

Looked into this myself a few years ago with EnCon/State Police/Town. EnCon does not regulate target shooting. State police do not either. Town ordanances will be the only thing you need to check on. My town has none so I was told as long as the range is "safe", there are no issues. 500ft rule only applies to hunting, not target shooting.

500 foot rule only applies to hunting. Target shooting is controlled (if they have an ordinance) by your local town.
