Don't go soley on my info, but...

The Salmon stocked into the Naugy, Shetucket and a few lakes came mostly from the Kensington hatchery as well as the Federal hatchery in VT as part of the Salmon Restoration Project.

To my understanding, the Kensington hatchery is already or will be closed as part of the state budget cuts, which would mean that that hatchery will not produce broodstock salmon going forward. I don't think that other hatcheries will take on the salmon.

Also, the salmon you catch in CT, the good ones are from Kensington and the smaller, less awesome ones come from VT.

The bottom line is that I think salmon broodstock fishing is done in CT, unless changes are made that I am not aware of. Maybe the state will still have the federal hatchery supply them...?

I loved fishing for them when I was up in taxonnecticut.

I don't mind seeing them go, every time I went some a$$hole was snagging them. I got sick every time I went of having to deal with the knuckle draggers doing this kind of crap. Want a salmon? Go to where they are wild and where if you see someone snagging one you give them a a beating.

Back home we got a taxidermy man. He gonna have a heart attack when he see what I brung him.

Come to the lower part of the Naugy where the river is to wide and to deep. You really have to fish for them. Beacon Fall section. Stay away from Campville. When the stocking first started they only stocked from Naugatuck down. But TU complain and they started stocking up above, that section is not a salmon stream, to small. That where your snagging come in.

Still happening just for a heads up - dates may change compared to years in the past, confirmed with a Very reliable Contact.. Numbers will be less, from my source as of now one stocking only, but all fish again range from 4lbs - 23lbs.. Hope this helps. Oh and BTW Campville might not be stocked this year. So bye bye snaggers, now you'll have to find em by "fishiing" for them.. :-)
