You can still only purchase one SL shotgun permit - that did not change. If you are hunting No lottery you either buy a not lottery A or a B, you can't buy both. The no lottery permit allows you to hunt ANY of the areas listed in the No Lottery listing.
I've been hunting no lottery SL for years now and I see less and less hunters, not more. I like it because I am not restricted to hunting one specific zone and can move based on my scouting or desire. I'm sure some areas are going to be a little crowded on certain days, but I literally had a 400 acre section of SL all to myself on the first Saturday of A season last year. Amazing.
Not around me either!! I don't think this will be a good thing at all!
This is why I love to bow hunt! I bow hunt a bunch of state land and I never see another hunter!, but when gun season starts look out!
I will probably end up doing the same.. really pisses me off though, hell why not open up the whole state and do away with the lottery all together! and while we are at it let us use centerfire rifles too!!.. yeah like that will happen....

Captain, can you help, I get confused , by what it was, and now , what it is. I want to hunt No-Lottery "A" season Babcock WMA in Colchester, like I have for 10 years.
I purchased it on-line thru the CTDEP $19.00 Along with all of my other permits
I used to send in a form , that I would get at town hall, which had me choose an area 24A to request "A" season
This shouldnt be that hard for me to understand, however, last year the State mailed me a comfirmation of that area, after I mailed in the request card.
Has something changed again? Do I still have to mail in an request of an area for "No-lottery" ? Or can hundreds of hunters hunt an area for no-lottery ??

Anyone can hunt the no-lottery areas as long as they have a no lottery state land deer permit. You just need to designate A or B season when you buy it online.
