Buck, great info. smile1

And even better.......

The best bet for a DEEP muskie program is for an exchange deal like Ct. swapping kokanee fry for some muskie fry with another state. Ct. has an exclusive with kokanee here in the Northeast and New England and could leverage deals with other states for walleye, muskie and channel catfish. But this requires thinking outside the box and government agencies don't do that well.

I love the way you think Buck. applause

then we would need enough populous in agreement to make this a viable option. at that point i guess we appeal to the fisheries dept?

zoar or lilly would make the most sense. the pike occur naturally at this point, and the fishing otherwise would improve by adding another bite to the mix.

Fascinating thread.
IMO and from past experience the initiative needs someone with a commitment and leadership to form a focus group, collect supportive arguments, organize a list of supporters and write a White Paper that lays out the proposal.

Takes a lot of work. But if the proposal makes sense the DEEP is responsive.

Ain't goning just happen by opinions on the internet.

Still a fascinating thread. Thanks for starting it Joey. Great comments and info O and Buck.

People have been begging the state to try it for years...which is probably why you have gotten no feedback. Perhaps we skip the state and go for a smaller agency like the RWA. they have had great success with walleyes and bass at lake Saltonstall. If you were to tell them the amount of money they would make in new members it would more than cover the cost of stock and management. It could even turn a place like maltby lakes from the nicest looking toilet into a place worth fishing, and with the shoreline fishing and shorter season it should be a good fishery. At worst the muskie would clean out all the panfish and then they could stock real fish like trout walleye or bass wink2
Anyone can join the RWA so this way only the people who pay for it will be effected by it or get to use it. I don't know any member that wouldn't pay even double the current cost to be able to fish for walleye or muskie here in ct. Best of all if they use tigers there would be no permanent effects.

really good point, obviously it would be cooler state run and in a public lake but that lake would deff handle it, just dont know how all the walleye guys would feel about them becoming bait =) but maltby could be a real option

agreed! Im curious to see if DEEP has any response to this. I feel like i cant be the first one to ask about this lol

You want a response from the DEEP?

Ask them if they would like to up the fees for licenses!-LOL
