Heres one for you Skip. I was approached by a Town of Washington officer while loading my car topper at the state park access area recently at Waramaug. He said that you can no longer use a gas motor on Waramaug. I was standing next to the sign that says 12 hp and under. He said it was changed and the sign was wrong. I had my 3.3 hp with me . I said thanks for the info and he drove away. Can you clear this up? I would like to have the correct info. Thanks as always. Tony

I don't like to say that a brother police officer is wrong....but he was wrong. There is no prohibition against gas motors on Waramaug. Every boat at every dock around the lake has a gas motor. There is the 12hp limit for the car top launch, but no restriction against gas motors.
I'll make a call to the Washington Police and remind them.

Heard back from the Washington Resident Trooper. He said it was not one of his officers, it might have been someone from the Lake Authority. He knows gas motors are permitted under 12HP, but there is the requirement about the weed inspection so maybe that's what the person was thinking about.
