Well, as labor day is behind us,I can post about another year at Mattie's Grove in the no kill Farmington area. Kudos, that signs were finally posted in the beach, swim area showing no kill areas, bad part is that all summer the poachers were present with treble hooks, barbed lures and spinners, dead fish and plenty of fish taken in the buckets that they sit on.Empty packets of spinners{barbed} empty on the banks and plenty of spinning line discarded even though there are line disposal tubes right there. So the season of 2026 comes to an end and maybe the fish can relax. Maybe some year, things will improve

Signs of the times. Wasn't that long ago the crew who striper fish by boat downstream from the Putnam Bridge called in poachers and were told it was a nuisance violation that didn't warrant action.

The facts of the matter like my dad used to say" nothing from nothing leaves nothing. If an offender has nothing there is no gain in charging them. A fine is useless if they don't intend to pay it. Same with court date if they 99 percent chance they don't show. No property to place a lien on. Whats left? Confiscate their shoes?
