Great Fish! Nothing wrong with a fish with some teeth. Rumor has it that they want those fish out of there now. There were some regrets that they put them in. I don't know how true it is but I guess guys have noticed a drastic decline in the smallies and perch! Time will tell! Again, nice fish!
nice fish! youve got me hyped now! Im headed down to otisco Lake today after I get out of class to take a crack at a Tiger! They stock them all over in central NY, i have yet to catch one but had a monster roll on a jerkbait last spring. They have put them in lakes that are barely 100 acres and theyve done fine.
I'm also getting the Lake trout bug, and this week will hit the water for some of them. Another to add to the life list!
#1 tip: Listen to the fish, not people. Fish may be dumb, but people are dumber.

plenty of other lakes in that area to catch dink perch and smallies- seeing a healthy tiger muskie come out of CT water is a very good thing - I doubt there has been a "drastic" decline- introducing an apex predator into a lake is going to shake things up and move fish around- I doubt the people who want them out are the people who wanted them in...

First time I've ever heard of a muskie being caught in Ct. That's a really nice fish. Great photo. Congrats !!!! What is the potential size that they can become in that lake ?

Mark S- depends on the forage and acreage I suppose- but I don't think 45-48" is unreasonable - the state record outta' pontoosuc in mass was 47" - (I am sure there are bigger ones still swimming as we speak) that lake is only about 500 acres - could be seeing 40 inch tiger muskies in a couple years and 45"+ in 3-5 years - they grow faster but don't survive as long as pure strain- so I think an 8-10 year old tiger muskie is at the end of its lifespan

there is alot of info that relates ONLY to tigers (most sites focus on pure strain and there are a lot of differences)
AND I am planning to get the year-long license for mass this season and do some trips up to Pontoosuc in Pittsfield, MA- would love to have a couple people meet me up there when I go - we did a couple days there last November and it is a GORGEOUS lake- we caught a few nice pike - but no sign of any tigers- but they are in there and have been for over 10 years- 40 inch plus fish for sure
