Is it still possible to acquire commercial gillnet licenses in CT to allow you to run nets longer than 60ft for bunker?

I believe the whole fishery is closed to new entries . It is open to those that have held a license in the past , specifically the years of the early 90s.
For just a commercial license and boat reg fee as a commercial vessel the process is not economically viable unless you participate in additional fisheries like fish trap or pin hooking.

Commercial fishing is pretty much locked down at this point. You can check with Marine Fisheries in Old Lyme to see if they expect things to open up, but I haven't heard of any changes coming.

$100, Application, net, and an annual report that must be tured in to be able to renew the following season.

with all the gillnets out there, you'd think the DEP would be able to get some more uniformed officers.... oh wait- I forgot that nobody actually gets the $100 permit

are you saying people are illegally poaching Bunker?

Did you call the Tip Line? How did you know they dont have the Permit? Did they not have their CT FISH Plate displayed?
