thought the same thing. something isnt right here... and i think i cracked the code...

a look at muskie habitat requirements shows a dependance on large rivers, and ogliotrophic or mesotrophic lakes. ogliotrophic lakes contain little biomass in terms of aquatic plants, mesotrophic lakes have weeds but not an overabundance, and more rock than weeds. other than the native population in lake champlain and the missisquoi river in vermont, no other real populations of muskie exist. new hampshire has some tigers stocked, and maine contains a viable fishery on the ST john river but only because quebec stocked a bunch many years ago and they got into the river and tributaries. Maine would provide the best options for a muskie fishery hands down. lake size and quality are largely favorable.

few if any lakes in ct provide this habitat and size requirement at all. the CT river would strike me as the only place even possible of self sustination in a muskie population. no other lake would allow for that, not even colebrook, which though an impoundment i'd consider largely ogliotrophic, but way too small. its the only ogliotrophic lake i even know of in CT, and thats cause its not real!

ya know who'd know a lot about this? probably Dusty, who has a lot of fisheries knowledge. be good if he weighed in.
