I think that less than 20% of the lakes and ponds in Connecticut have the ability to hold over stocked trout on a consistent year to year basis. Yes I understand there are places that may holdover some fish under ideal conditions, but ideal conditions typcially do not occur on back to back years....

In my opinion, the widespread stocking of trout in ponds and lakes that cannot consisntely hold over fish year to year (put and take fisheries) is a waste of money. I would love to see some of that money get invested in expanding the state's walleye and pike stocking programs. Stocking fish that can survive for multiple years in the states waters offers species diversity and flat out makes sense economically.
