Thank you! I had a couple of customers tell me that you guys were there over the weekend... I know you guys are doing the best you can with the resources you've got but if you feel like taking a boat ride, just head south out of the cove and take look on the west bank between the Rt3 bridge and White Oaks... There are always boats anchored in the channel wink2

Maybe we should take the law into our own hands and just dump their buckets of herring back into the water. Ha!

If you chase two rabbits, you will not catch either one.

Is it just me or is it worse this year? They aren't even hiding the fact that they are snagging the herring. Last week we were drifting about 10 yards away from a boat that was anchored in the channel and they were lifting herring over the rails like it was their job. They could have cared less that we were there.

I don't remember it being this bad.

I have never seen it as bad as this... And you are right about no one caring. Customers talk about it all the time in here, drives me nuts.

Makes me feel a bit at ease knowing at least some of them will know that your officers are aware of their illegal methods. They knew exactly what they were doing was wrong and I'm glad some had to pay the price!! If nothing else there is an awareness and examples were set in place.

Thanks Captain!!

if people are catching herring like it's their job, pulling them in on sabiki's 3-5 at a time and this is happening up and down the river maybe it is time to lift the ban.

Herring are very plentiful and always have been,it's the creel survey method that is messed up and the reason surveys come up with low numbers. DEEP is afraid to ruin their nets surveying close to shore where the herring actually run so they use flawed data instead to maintain the ban on us Rec guys, but yet the big ocean ships still get to take them by the millions .

my 2 cents on the subject.
