I'll bet that if The Courant ran an article on how effective we were at enforcing herring and other regulations, we would see a big change in this topic. No doubt resources would be sent to the identified problem areas, interviews would highlight the situations identified, etc.
There needs to be more follow up on the violations, their enforcement, and utilization(cost/benefit) of the resources we apply at taxpayer expense.
I'll contact them tomorrow and perhaps we may see not only some improvements in the enforcement areas, we may also see some updates in the science used by the fisheries managers.
