I live on Long Island and was brought up strictly salt water fishing. We had our traditions for the first day of flounder, which as we all know is probobly one of the biggest let downs these days. For the last five years I have had a seasonal camper in Ct and have come to enjoy freshwater fishing. Many of the people in the campground come for opening day and it is a great time to get together for a good time. The only problem I have with this is there are spots to go where it's like shooting ducks in a barrel and like was stated before these spots are raped of the fish that are stocked uaually in the first two days by the meat fishermen. Ive seen people catch their limit, go home, come back and catch their limit again bypassing the regulations on possesion. Personally I stay away from these places except for a laugh and go to places where you have to use some skill to catch a fish. My opinion after what I have witnessed is to have opening day for the kids. It's sickening to witness grown adults leaving the site thumping like the mighty hunter gatherers they think the are catching fish that respond to people knowing that they will be fed instead of being wary like true wild trout. Leave it for the kids. As far as a licence fee I paid $40 for an out of state licence and would pay more if it was required to fish the beautiful waters of CT.

If it's called the World Series how come it's always played in the Bronx?
