The underlying theme of abolishing opening day is so that this 60%( where does this figure come from) of the trout that are caught and wasted(apparently the majority of these trout rot or wind-up with freezer burn)(who determined this to be true?) will be available for the true fishermen to catch later in the season. Sorry that is the way I read it and I believe most intelligent and logical people who examine both sides would agree with me, otherwise whats the big deal if these jerks run amock for one day?? Granted the litter is disgusting and bad behaviour is never pleasant even to watch but that exists year round. I think after opening day there are plenty of trout left and that's when the real fishermen as this site illustrates really shine. There are plenty of alternative places to go and other types of fishing so that you can avoid this debacle you call opening day. Going to a popular river and not expecting to have some jerks around is like deciding it would be fun to go for a sunday drive in Iraq. We've all got to share, sorry.
