Pricing tiers released for Big Four at Yankee Stadium

Planning on seeing The Big Four this September? Better have some cash saved up, because the pricing sets for the Yankee Stadium show have been released, and they are not pretty.

According to an email from Metallica.com this morning, there will be four pricing tiers for the historic Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax show. While upper level nosebleed seats are only $90, that price jumps to $119 for lower level seats, followed by $175 for floor tickets at the BACK of the general admission area, and a staggering $225 per ticket for those who want to be in the front GA section. Keep in mind that unless purchased at the box office, additional Ticketmaster and venue fees will be charged as well.

This stands in contrast to the flat $100 it cost to gain admission to the California show two weeks ago, where the entire Coachella venue was general admission because really, who the hell wants to be stuck in seats for five hours of the world's best heavy metal?

But even the fact that there is a general admission floor at all comes as a victory, according to the Big Four Facebook page, as originally it seemed that even the field would be seated just like the Eminem / Jay-Z concert last September, as pictured to the upper left. The Yankee Stadium field crew must be cringing at the thought of repairing the lawn after thousands of fans are finished moshing all over it, making one wonder who exactly thought Yankee Stadium was the best place for this show.

With presales set to start tomorrow for fan club members and Yankee season ticket holders, all of the metal world is abuzz with speculation on whether the show will sell out. In the New York Hard Rock Examiner's personal opinion, while all field GA tickets will be snatched up right away, by the time September comes around, scalpers and brokers will be reselling rear field tickets at face value or lower, and seats may even still be unsold, because frankly, $100+ is a lot a of money for all but the most die-hard heavy metal fans and there are 51,000 seats in the Stadium. That said, if you want to ensure your historic spot at the Big Four, be ready to grab your tickets when they officially go on sale this Friday.
