You almost need two places to live. I've lived in Florida in the summer and it was hell. I lived in North Texas for 20+ years and it was hell. Most days from the end of June through mid September are in the 90+ range with stretches of 100+.

Now if you take up residency in a tax friendly southern state and have a cheap summer home somewhere up north that would be the best of both worlds.

The summers up north are pretty awesome and the days are long, but the winters are too friggin' long and the days are so short. The winters down south are pretty good, but the summers really suck.

I have much more problems dealing with heat than I do with the cold, but don't like the extremes of either.
